JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Missouri officials confirmed the first case of an animal virus in southwest Missouri recently, but could it find it's way to the northwest Missouri region?
The virus, vesicular stomatitis, mainly impacts horses, but can also infect cattle, pig, sheep or goats. Missouri State Veterinarian Dr. Steve Strubberg told KXCV/KRNW that vesicular stomatitis is spread several ways.
Dr. Strubberg adds that if horse owners are traveling to other states with their horse, they need to check for any travel restrictions.
